At its general meeting on 21 March, the Association “Ar Pasaules Pieredzi Latvijā”/”Brain Gain” unanimously elected Oskars Teikmanis and Roberts Strengs as board members. The Board of the Society will therefore consist of seven members, including the previously elected Miks Muižarājs, Jānis Kreilis, Kristaps Loze, Māra McLaughlin-Taylor, and Edmunds Dukulis.
Oskars Teikmanis has spent around twenty years abroad, including in France, Germany, and the UK. After finishing school in Latvia, Oskars studied engineering and robotics at the Technical University of Munich, gained his first scientific experience at the German Aerospace Centre, and then started working on self-driving cars. After nine years in Munich, Oskars returned to Riga and started working at the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science alongside his Ph.D. studies at the University of Latvia.
After high school, Roberts Strenga went to Canada to study politics, economics, and social anthropology at the University of Toronto. While in Canada, Roberts worked with a team of students building a racing car and founded his own company. After 8 years in Toronto, Roberts returned to Latvia to bring back the knowledge and experience he had gained and invest in his home country, which gave him the opportunity to travel the world.
“I am delighted to see that the AppLV Board and the organization as a whole are attracting new professionals with a wide range of professional and international experience. They are proof that many stellar people are not only leaving Latvia but also returning. This helps us to engage more effectively with the country, providing quality proposals for the development of various areas of importance to Latvia, and to better organize the various networking events popular with returnees. Oskars and Roberts’ knowledge, experience, and ideas will definitely contribute to AppLV’s ability to implement new ambitious projects,” says Miks Muižarājs, Chairman of “Ar Pasaules pieredzi Latvijā”/”BrainGain”
The Association “Ar Pasaules pieredzi Latvijā”/”BrainGain” is a platform where people with world experience meet, expand their network with like-minded people, and work on joint projects that promote a culture of cooperation and exchange of ideas. It also strengthens links with people who live outside Latvia but are thinking of returning home. It is the leading organization for returnees in Latvia and aims to promote the effective use of the intellectual capital accumulated by returnees for the development and growth of Latvia.
